Today is my birthday, so I wanted something fun to wear today. I’m really into chevrons at the moment, so I decided to incorporate some of my new Essie neons into a Missoni-inspired mani.
For those of you who don’t know, Missoni is a fashion house famous for their chevron knits. I don’t own anything from them (I missed out on the Missoni for Target collection a while ago), but I really like the patterns and colors, and am planning to knit a few Missoni-inspired pieces when I have the time.
I was inspired by these booties, and chose a section of the pattern to replicate.
I started with a base of Essie Brooch the Subject (my favorite nude polish). The black stripes are China Glaze Smoke & Ashes, and the other two are Essie Lights and Essie Camera from the Poppy-Razzi Collection.
I contemplated using tape, but it would have taken forever with the thin chevrons, so I freehanded these with a striping brush. They are surprisingly difficult to get straight – this is my third attempt.
I really like these! They were a fun way to wear neon without it being distracting, and the nude base kept the patten subtle.
